When it comes to drums, a lot of electronic music just cannot stand up to a professional sounding mix.
It seems to me that a lot of producers think it is sufficient to throw some Vengeance samples into a MIDI channel, create a loop, add a limiter and whap it on to Beatport!
In this video, I show you some simple tips that will help you add a little life and space to your drums, as well as allowing the drum mix to "gel" together.

Part 3: Fast & Shuffled Hi Hats

The most important element to achieving a punchy and powerful snare hit is the EQing. The reason for this is that you need to layer at very least 2 snare sounds to get the thickness required for the punch. EQ is essential to make these sounds sit together without becomming too messy.

Dubstep Series - Part 1: Fat & Punchy Kick Drum

WELCOME TO MY NEW BLOG!!
I will be posting video tutorials on making different genres of music in Ableton Live with the first series being on DUBSTEP!
Each video will explain the creation process and the thinking behind the creation process for a different element of the track. Through the series of videos, these elements will be put together to create a finished track by the end of the series!
